EFDF ULTIMATE CLUB CHAMPlONSHIPS 2005
July 3rd - 9th, 2005
hosted in Rostock (Germany)

To all European National Flying Disc Associations
23.12.2004

Dear National Association representative, this is EFDF’s official invitation for club teams of your country to participate in the 2005 EFDF European Ultimate Club Championships.

As we announced in September the EFDF European Ultimate Club Championship 2005 will take place in Rostock, Germany, during the week of July 3rd to 9th, 2005. The hosts from the local Ultimate team “Endzonis Rostock” have started to organize the event and are looking forward to greeting Europe’s top club Ultimate teams in their home city. The EUCC 2005 will provide teams from over 20 countries the chance to compete against each other, improve their level of play, and will also serve as a ranking event for the European teams prior to the WFDF World Ultimate Club Championships 2006 in Perth, Australia.

EFDF wishes to see the best teams from your country participate. This letter is meant to help coordinate the selection of teams from each country and inform you of other important considerations regarding the tournament.

Team Selection

We are planning on hosting the tournament for 32-40 Open division, 16-24 Womens, 8-12 Masters and 12-16 Mixed teams. These numbers are rather vague at the moment as we do not really know how the interest in the various divisions will be. The total number of teams is mainly limited by the number of fields and we plan to adjust the team numbers in the different divisions according to the interest we receive.

The national associations will be responsible for selecting the participating teams. Each European country that has a national flying disc association or an international contact person may enter at least one team per division. Depending on its performance at the most recent national team competition (the World Ultimate Championships in 2004) some countries will receive more spots to enter teams (Open, Women and Mixed divisions only).

We need your help as the national representative to coordinate the selection of teams from your country. You are responsible for contacting interested teams from your country, ranking the teams (teams will be selected and seeded according to the ranking you provide), and sending us this information in time to enable EFDF to select and confirm the teams that receive spots. Due to experience from the past EFDF asks you to encourage all teams interested in competing to sign up, no matter how many spots you receive. These “wild card” teams will receive the unused spots after the deadline of the initial registration (dates see below) or if registered teams pull out as the EUCC gets closer. In order for EFDF to be able to compare/rank these wild card teams in a fair way it’s particularly important that their mentionable international tournament placings during 2003 and 2004 are indicated.

Roster requirements

Below are the eligibility rules for the EUCC 2005. You must be familiar with these roster requirements, since you are expected to inspect the rosters of the teams from your country and countersign them before they are sent to us.

1. Definition of a club team:

"A team comprised of players, who have not for the last three months prior to the European Ultimate Club Championship tournament played, competed and entered into competitive
tournaments with any other team and who reside in the same geographic locality.

A local sports club that is a legally recognized entity and has a large enough regular membership base to support more than a single competing team may enter into the tournament with a single
team comprised of players selected from any regularly competing team of the club."

2. Exceptions

Womens division:

To encourage participation in the Womens division teams will be granted reasonable exceptions to the club definition up to, but not including 25% of the complete team roster (e.g. 12 true
members + 3 exceptions = 15 players).

Masters division:

To encourage participation in the Masters division teams will be granted reasonable exceptions to the club definition up to, but not including 75% of the complete team roster (e.g. 4 true members
+ 11 exceptions = 15 players). Please note that EFDF will follow WFDF’s rules for the minimum age of a Master player and that
this could change in early 2005.

All divisions:

If a country is participating for the first time in a division, in order to help the development of the sport the team may consist of players from various clubs of that country as well as up to 3 players from foreign countries. However, no such team may compete in the semifinal stages of the event.

All these exceptions must be indicated on the roster.

All other exceptions to the club team definition shall be submitted to the approval of the national association of the country, which the team represents, and the approval of the EFDF. These exceptions can be of the nature of e.g. a player who resides in another area of the same country, but has strong ties with the club.

The team roster forms will have a separate column to provide details on any exceptions to the club definitions that the team wishes to submit for consideration by the respective national
association and the EFDF.

Team rosters should be filled out by team captains, countersigned by a representative of the respective national association, and received by the tournament directorate in Rostock by June
19th, 2005.
